This Just In: “Hell Has Frozen Over”
Rush Limbaugh—a powerful advocate for both Wars on Iraq—has become a peacenik. Yes, for the record, I heard him advocate for peace yesterday on his radio show. Rush says we should “end the endless wars” in the Middle East. He even went so far as to say, “I don’t mean to be cynical about this, but there’s lots of money to be made off these wars.” I nearly crashed my vehicle when those words came out of my car radio speakers!
I know what you’re thinking: Limbaugh is a tribalist, and he’s been painted into a corner because he has to echo what his team’s captain—President Trump—wants. And, of course, you would be correct. However, so what? Fellow Peacemakers, let’s take this; it’s a win. Should it really matter which “team” is advocating for non-intervention? Of course not. We should support those when they do the right thing (even if for the wrong reasons).
You’ll recall Rush and Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham on Fox News and ALL of the mainstream media couldn’t wait for us to go in and take out “Saddam.” And you know what? Thousands of dead and severely wounded American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of innocent, dead Iraqi civilians later, and . . .
Tucker and Laura have both expressed regret—on the air—for their previous positions and now admit the War on Iraq was a mistake.
Let’s build a coalition of advocates for peace, no matter the tribe, no matter the team, no matter whether there’s a “D” or an “R” after a name. Isn’t that what grown-ups should be doing?
Indeed, on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, Hell froze over. Never thought I would hear “El Rushbo” become a peacenik right on the air.
ON THIS ONE ISSUE—the issue of war and peace, the most important issue for our great country—I will happily stand with Rush, Laura, Tucker, (and yes—Trump!) and anyone else who advocates for peace. What say you, dear reader? Are you with us?
